After the Resurrection Part I
The resurrection of Jesus Christ marked not an ending, but a beginning of His ongoing work through the church. In the period between His resurrection and ascension, Jesus provided crucial instructions for how believers should live and minister today. He emphasized that the church must be built solely on His foundation, as He is the chief cornerstone of everything we do.
Jesus commanded His disciples to wait in Jerusalem for the baptism of the Holy Spirit, teaching us that effective ministry cannot happen without divine power. He redirected their focus from political restoration to spiritual restoration, reminding us that God's kingdom transcends earthly movements and temporal battles. The pattern Jesus established was clear: become witnesses starting in your immediate community and expanding outward to the ends of the earth.
Faithful ministry begins with being reliable in our current circumstances. God enables those who prove faithful where they are, then promotes them to greater responsibility. This means blooming where we're planted rather than waiting for future opportunities. Unity among believers doesn't require uniformity, but it does require having the same heart and mind. We should especially show kindness to fellow believers, remembering that the way we treat others determines how we will be treated. The key is to start where we are, rely on the Holy Spirit's power, and be faithful witnesses in our everyday lives.
