Day 1: Wisdom Is a Person, Not Just a Principle

Devotional

Most of us think of wisdom as good advice or smart decision-making. But wisdom is far more than that. According to Scripture, wisdom has a name. His name is Jesus. When you choose Jesus, you are not just choosing a better way to live. You are choosing the source of all truth, all life, and all wisdom itself. That changes everything about how we approach our daily decisions. It is not about following a checklist. It is about following a person. Think about the people in your life you trust most. You trust them not just because of what they say, but because of who they are. Jesus is the most trustworthy person you will ever encounter. His wisdom is not theoretical. It is personal, and it is available to you right now. You do not have to have it all figured out. You do not have to clean yourself up first. You simply have to choose Him. And when you do, you are choosing wisdom, truth, and life all at once. Every day is a new opportunity to make that choice. Start today.

Day 2: Ask Without Fear

One of the most freeing truths in all of Scripture is this: God does not hold your past against you when you come to Him for wisdom. He does not make you earn it. He does not remind you of every mistake before He answers. He simply gives. James 1:5 is a promise with no fine print. God gives wisdom generously, to all who ask, without reproach. That means no matter where you have been or what you have done, you are not disqualified from receiving what God has for you. But here is where it gets honest. Asking is only part of it. There is a difference between praying for something and actually cooperating with the answer. In Hebrew, listening and obeying are the same word. You cannot truly hear from God and then walk in the opposite direction and call that faith. God is not trying to keep you from a good time. He is trying to protect you from a bad life. His wisdom is not a restriction. It is a gift wrapped in love. So ask boldly. And then be willing to follow where He leads.

Day 3: The Choices That Shape Your Life

It is easy to look at where you are in life and point to circumstances, your upbringing, the opportunities you missed, the people who let you down. And while those things are real, they do not get the final word. The direction of your life is shaped by the choices you make. That is not a guilt trip. It is actually incredibly good news. Because if choices got you here, choices can also move you forward. Proverbs 2 is full of action words: treasure, seek, cry out, incline your heart. Wisdom is not something that falls on you while you are sitting still. It is something you pursue. And every single day, you get to decide whether you are going to pursue it or not. Spiritual maturity grows when you develop an appetite for the things of God. Not out of obligation, but out of genuine desire. The more you choose wisdom, the more you want it. That is how God designed it to work. You are not stuck. You are one choice away from a different direction. Make the choice today.

Day 4: Let It Go: The Freedom of Forgiveness

There is an enemy of wisdom that does not always look dangerous. It does not show up loud or obvious. It quietly takes up space in your heart and keeps you from moving forward. It is called bitterness. Unforgiveness is one of the most consuming forces a person can carry. You can be so focused on someone who hurt you that they occupy your thoughts morning and night, even if they are no longer in your life. That is not justice. That is a prison. Forgiveness does not mean what happened to you was okay. It does not mean you have to trust that person again. It means you are choosing to release the weight so that God can move freely in your life. Bitterness seals you off. Forgiveness opens you up. God's mercies are new every morning (Lamentations 3:23). He extends that same grace to you, and He invites you to extend it to others. Not because they deserve it, but because you deserve to be free. Forgiveness is a choice. And it might be the most important one you make this week.

Is there someone you are still carrying around in your heart that you have not truly forgiven, and what would it feel like to finally set that weight down?

Prayer

Lord, I choose forgiveness today, even when it is hard. Free me from the weight of bitterness so I can walk fully in what You have for me. Amen.

Day 5: Keep Choosing Christ

Wisdom is not a one-time decision. It is a daily one. And the good news is that every single morning, you get a fresh start. Psalm 23 paints a picture of a life led by a good shepherd. A life where you are not in want, where you are protected, where a table is prepared for you even in the middle of difficulty. That is not a life reserved for people who have it all together. It is a life available to anyone who keeps choosing to follow. No matter what you are facing today, no matter what has been said about you or done to you, the invitation is the same: choose Christ. Not just once, but again and again. In the small moments and the hard ones. In the quiet mornings and the overwhelming afternoons. God is not finished with you. His mercies are new every morning, and so is His invitation to walk with Him. Spiritual growth is a journey, and every step forward matters. You do not have to be perfect. You just have to keep choosing. So today, choose Christ. And tomorrow, choose Him again.
