Let’s Break it Down
Just as Moses distributed his anointing to 70 elders, we are called to pour what we have been given into the people around us. The faith we carry is not meant to stop with us.
Key Takeaways
Healthy spiritual leadership does not just birth new believers or new ministries. It takes ongoing responsibility for strengthening and encouraging what has been built.
Believers should expect hardship and tribulation as a normal part of the Christian life. The church must prepare people for suffering rather than presenting a faith that promises only comfort.
The anointing and gifts God places on our lives are not meant to be hoarded. By God's design, they are meant to be shared and poured into others, just as Moses shared His anointing with 70 elders.
Complacency is a spiritual danger. Like wine that sits too long on its dregs, believers who stop investing in others risk their influence and wisdom dying
with them rather than being passed to the next generation.
Investing in the next generation is not optional. It is a biblical responsibility to teach, model, and pass down faith so that the church remains alive and fruitful beyond our own lifetime.

5-Day Devotional
Day 1: Growth Doesn't Happen by Accident
Devotional
Think about the last time you actually grew in your faith. Chances are, it didn't happen while you were coasting. It happened in a moment of challenge, community, or intentional pursuit of God. Growth requires intention. In Acts 14, Paul and Barnabas didn't just plant churches and move on. They went back. They returned to strengthen believers, speak honestly about hardship, and raise up leaders. That kind of care takes effort. It takes showing up even when it's inconvenient. The same is true for you. Your spiritual life won't deepen on its own. It grows when you pursue truth, stay connected to community, and remain honest about where you are with God. You don't have to have it all together. You just have to keep showing up. God is not distant from your journey. He is actively involved in it, and He has placed people around you to help you grow. You are not meant to figure this out alone. The encouragement today is simple: take one intentional step toward growth. Open your Bible. Call a friend who challenges you. Show up to community. Small, consistent steps taken with God lead somewhere meaningful.
Bible Verse
'These things I have spoken to you, so that in Me you may have peace. In the world you have tribulation, but take courage; I have overcome the world.' - John 16:33
Reflection Question
What is one area of your faith where you have been coasting, and what would one intentional step forward look like this week?
Quote
"Growing as a follower of Jesus is not something that happens automatically."
Prayer
Lord, forgive me for the times I have treated my faith as something that just happens. Give me the desire and the discipline to pursue You with intention, and surround me with people who help me grow. Amen.
Day 2: Honest Faith Holds Up in the Storm
Devotional
Nobody wants to talk about the hard seasons. But if we are honest, those are often the seasons where our faith becomes real. Paul and Barnabas told the early believers something that might surprise us. They said that hardship is part of the journey, not a sign that something has gone wrong. That kind of honesty is rare, and it is exactly what people need to hear. A faith that only works when life is easy is not a faith that will hold. But a faith that has been tested, that has walked through grief and uncertainty and still found God faithful, that is a faith worth sharing. Maybe you are in a hard season right now. Maybe you have been wondering if your struggle means God has forgotten you. He hasn't. Psalm 34 reminds us that He is close to the brokenhearted. Your pain is not invisible to Him. And here is the beautiful thing: the story you are living through right now, the one that feels messy and unresolved, is the very story that will one day strengthen someone else. Your honesty about suffering is not a weakness. It is one of the most powerful gifts you can offer.
Bible Verse
'The righteous cry, and the Lord hears and delivers them out of all their troubles. The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in Spirit. Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the Lord delivers Him out of them all.' - Psalm 34:17-19
Reflection Question
Is there a painful season in your past or present that you have been reluctant to talk about, and how might your honesty about it actually help someone else?
Quote
"Encouraging them means being honest about the reality of suffering rather than offering a version of faith that promises to avoid it."
Prayer
Father, thank You that You do not ask me to pretend. Meet me in the honest places, and help me trust that even my hardest seasons are held in Your hands. Amen.
Day 3: You Were Never Meant to Carry It Alone
Devotional
Moses was exhausted. He was leading an entire nation, carrying the weight of every complaint, every conflict, every decision. And finally, he broke. He told God He couldn't do it anymore. God's response is worth sitting with. He didn't rebuke Moses for being weak. He gave him 70 elders to share the load. He distributed the Spirit that was on Moses to others so the burden could be carried together. That moment is a picture of something God has always intended. He never designed leadership, ministry, or even everyday life to rest on one person's shoulders. When we try to carry everything alone, we are not being faithful. We are actually working against the way God designed things to function. Maybe you are in a season where the weight feels crushing. A responsibility at work, a family situation, a role in ministry that has quietly become too much. Before you push through alone, it is worth pausing and asking an honest question: did God ever ask you to carry this by yourself? He has placed people around you. Let them in. Sharing the load is not a sign of weakness. It is wisdom.
Bible Verse
'Moses' Father-in-law said to Him, "The thing that you are doing is not good. You will surely wear out, both yourself and these people who are with you, for the task is too heavy for you; you cannot do it alone. Now listen to me: I will give you counsel, and God be with you."' - Exodus 18:17-21
Reflection Question
Is there a burden you have been carrying alone that God may have actually intended for you to share with others around you?
Quote
"If you are carrying a burden that feels crushing, it is worth asking whether God ever asked you to carry it alone."
Prayer
God, help me release the pride or fear that keeps me from asking for help. Remind me today that You designed me for community, not isolation. Amen.
Day 4: Don't Let What You Carry Die With You
Devotional
There is an image in the book of Jeremiah that is hard to forget. Wine that has never been poured from vessel to vessel sits undisturbed on its dregs. It looks fine on the outside, but over time it becomes stagnant. Its flavor is lost. Its potential is wasted. Jeremiah used that image as a warning, and it applies to us in a very personal way. The wisdom you have gained through hard years, the faith you have built through real struggle, the gifts God has placed in you, none of that was meant to stay only with you. When we hold onto what we have been given without pouring it into others, it stagnates. And one day, it simply ends with us. The people who could have been shaped by your story never get the chance. Deuteronomy 6 paints a different picture. Faith passed down through honest, everyday conversation. Not just formal teaching, but real life. Talking about what God has done while you are driving, eating, going about your day. You have something worth giving. Your experience, your faith, your hard-won wisdom. Someone younger is watching you and wondering if the life you have lived is possible for them. Show them it is.
Bible Verse
'You shall teach them diligently to your sons and shall talk of them when you sit in your house and when you walk by the way and when you lie down and when you rise up.' - Deuteronomy 6:6-7
Reflection Question
Who in your life could benefit from the wisdom and faith you have built over the years, and what is one practical way you could begin pouring into them?
Quote
"Wisdom, experience, faith, and gifting that are never shared eventually stagnate and die with the person who held them."
Prayer
Lord, help me see the gifts You have placed in me not as things to protect, but as things to give away. Show me who needs what You have already grown in me. Amen.
Day 5: The Church Is a Family, Not a Program
Devotional
Programs can be managed. Institutions can be maintained. But families are meant to be lived in. God's design for the church has always been relational. It is a place where the wisdom of one generation flows into the next, where burdens are shared, where no one has to figure out life alone. That is not a nice idea. It is the blueprint. And here is what makes it personal: everything you have been given, your gifts, your story, your faith, even the breath in your lungs, was never meant to stop with you. It was meant to move. To be given away. To shape the people around you. Younger believers are not just looking for someone who knows the right answers. They are looking for someone who has actually lived through the hard questions and kept trusting God anyway. That person might be you. As you close out this week, consider what it would look like to fully embrace your place in God's family. Not as a spectator, but as someone who strengthens, encourages, and invests. The church becomes what God designed it to be when each person plays their part. You belong here. And what you carry matters more than you know.
Bible Verse
'The Lord bless you, and keep you; the Lord make His face shine on you, and be gracious to you; the Lord lift up His face to you, and give you peace.' - Numbers 6:24-26
Reflection Question
What would it look like for you to move from simply attending church to actively contributing to it as a member of God's family?
Quote
"The church, by God's design, is a family, and in a family the wisdom of one generation is meant to flow into the next."
Prayer
Father, thank You for placing me in Your family. Help me to give freely what You have freely given me, and let my life point others toward You. Amen.
